Vinny, what suspenion do you have, we just did FK Silverline X on a friends car and we started 1/4 turn from full stiff on the fronts and it was super bouncy and he's on 15's too, turned it to 1 full turn from full stiff and now its good, I'm one full turn too and its smooth, no noises as well.

creaking is probably your strut top bearings, not the springs.

weather is super shitty today...waiting till tomorrow to take the wheels in to get setup.

bullet vince557    ([Mar 14 : 03:02PM])
lol i'm running 195 65 15s

bullet murf    ([Mar 14 : 02:25PM])
pretty sure the wheels I'm on right now have either 225/45/17 or 235/45/17s and I'm tucking 1/2 tire on them haha. I literally have 1-1.5mm of space between the tire/fender with the wheel cut.

bullet vince557    ([Mar 14 : 12:50PM])
i have meaty 15" snows on lol

bullet murf    ([Mar 14 : 10:46AM])
mine aren't really bouncy at all which is surprising. We'll see if that changes once the 18s are back on, the 17s might just be absorbing a lot of the blow since the stock 17" tires are so meaty.

bullet vince557    ([Mar 14 : 04:30AM])
guys need to take me afor a spin in your cars. my fk's are bouncy as hell and front springs creaks so much when i turn.

bullet ShadowGLI    ([Mar 14 : 01:53AM])
oh and my drive home, that loud deep noise other than the percipitaiton is snow on my undercarriage [LINK]

bullet ShadowGLI    ([Mar 14 : 01:50AM])
I'm set at 3/4 too... [LINK] which turns into this...

sounds right. I was at 2" of thread for winter mode.

bullet vince557    ([Mar 13 : 08:06PM])
i think 24 threads is like almost 1/2 way up the shock body lol before it was at 10 before i raised it.

bullet murf    ([Mar 13 : 07:15PM])
I forgot to count but I think that puts me in the 10-12 thread range. I'll have to try and count it tomorrow.

bullet vince557    ([Mar 13 : 06:44PM])
damn murf's got me beat now. i cna't ride that low i'm already killing it on my daily commute at like 24 threads LOL but i'm on 15s

bullet murf    ([Mar 13 : 05:32PM])
bought the bare essentials at Home Depot/WalMart. Just finished getting it dropped down. It's sitting at 3/4" of thread left in the front/rear.

bullet murf    ([Mar 13 : 09:52AM])
I don't see a $ 60 jack, but I was lookin at this one.

harbor freight would be great, but I kind of need to get the work done by like...Wednesday. Unless I order it, ship it to school and sit in the parking lot for 2 hours and do the work haha.
bullet vince557 on Saturday 13 March 2010 - 02:08:28
don't buy craftsman jacks they are shit and will fall apart like the widowmaker.
bullet jettagt8v80 on Friday 12 March 2010 - 22:35:07
just make sure there is an 18mm 19mm and 16mm socket in there usually the lower ones stop or skip some of those numbers ive used that jack id just go to harbor freight and buy one they have one on sale right now for $ 60

heh, not really trying to spend $ 200 on tools though. Going to go down to Sears in Newington tomorrow to get a smaller mechanics set, another set of jack stands, and a floor jack. was looking at this one. [link]
bullet jettagt8v80 on Friday 12 March 2010 - 21:41:30

I was looking at Sears, it seems you must have gotten an open box price on that because the 250 piece sets they have are like $ 300
bullet ShadowGLI on Friday 12 March 2010 - 11:02:16
yeah 18mm but then there is one for the strut too, thats 16 at the top, 21 at the bottom IIRC. Murf, go get a small mechanic set, I spend $150 on a 260 piece kit and it works awesome, has like every size you need for regular MKV work, and a case to hold it in.
bullet murf on Friday 12 March 2010 - 09:10:41
word thanks vinny
bullet vince557 on Friday 12 March 2010 - 00:41:27
18mm
bullet murf on Thursday 11 March 2010 - 21:36:52
control arm bolt...the thing that cradles the rear spring/perch.

Just need to get the bare minimum tools so I can work on my car in the parking lot at school.
bullet jettagt8v80 on Thursday 11 March 2010 - 21:26:45
i think hes talking about the rear perch on the fk's if so its a 19mm i think

Re: 19x8.5 baller wheels
Painted, could have them powdered ( I know a guy) and I do additional work if it will make the sale (repainting them/etc) or leaving them as is for a price break. I'm flexible.. I just wanna get one o[more ...]
